The Transformation of Ajax
As soon as the leash came off he'd hop onto his couch, curl up in a ball, and give me that "deer in headlights" look that made me wonder when (if ever) he would feel comfortable on his walks with Daisy and me!
What caused this breakthrough, you ask? First and foremost, I believe ALL dogs can be rehabilitated. Second, I increased the minutes of his walks at his own pace and comfort level over a matter of three weeks. Third, I firmly believe that dogs are pack animals by nature and will learn from their elders which was one of the reasons why I introduced him to Daisy. As one week turned into three I asked permission to allow Daisy to romp in Ajax's back yard (pictured here in a calm moment) prior to heading out on the town and that final act, dear reader, brought on more bonding making him feel even more at ease!
I'm not a certified trainer but I instinctively knew that with practice and patience he would eventually walk with confidence. As I study this last picture in comparison to ones above I am proud because his transformation is quite noticeable! Can you tell the difference?
Dog walking has been a rewarding experience for me throughout the years and this one is no exception! I'm proud that I chose professional dog walking as a profession and I'm sure Ajax would agree!

Another Cute Weekend With Maisey
Maisey didn't get the memo from the other dogs I visit that she was supposed to greet me at the door so she quietly waited for me to find her on top of her couch instead!
Nothing could motivate her to jump off the couch other than the promise of
bacon along with the chance to share some with her friend,
Daisy!
Needless to say, at the end of weekend it was hard to say goodbye to this little cutie but I know I will see her again soon!
Patience Pays Off For Clients, Gordon and Keely, and My Daisy!
I think we can all agree that dogs are very patient, right? In the case of Gordon (the perky fella on the front left), Keeley (the pretty old gal next to him), and my Daisy (can you see her?) they waited for what probably seemed like hours for me to give them their treats after a frigid Saturday night walk.
Normally I would've gone directly to the treat jar but my fingers were too numb so they had no choice but to wait and wait and wait until
my hands were no longer frozen! I love how this picture captures the relief in their eyes, don't you?
Do your dogs wait as patiently as these friends did when you just can't get them their treats (or meals) ready right away?
Ajax Joins the Teacher's Pet Sitting Service Family
As you can tell, three-year-old Ajax was a bit startled when I unlocked his door last Tuesday but as soon he remembered that I met him during his "Meet and Greet" a few days before he relaxed and quickly got ready for his first
walk with my girl, Daisy! He's an energetic and sometimes nervous guy (he's new to Dover, NH, so he is still getting used to the sights and sounds of downtown) but he loved his walk and was clearly
disappointed when his travels came to an end!
Of course we look forward to more walks with Ajax in the days to come!
77 Cents Makes Sense to Daisy
If you've been following my blog for awhile you already know that my girl, Daisy, has been blessed to live in the quaint city of Dover, New Hampshire, where she's within walking distance of many shops where storekeepers welcome her INSIDE with treats in hand so you can imagine how confused she becomes when I ask her to stand (or sit in the car during bad weather as shown here) just OUTSIDE the doors of Janetos, a small independent grocery store, while I rush to the deli counter to purchase a hot dog for her!
As soon as I open the bag she forgets all about her brief abandonment! Oh, and if you're wondering if her nose KNOWS when we are getting close to hot dog heaven the answer is yes!
Quotes in Remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr
It has been debated that the following quote was fabricated by animal rights activist groups to promote their cause rather than come from the lips of the late Martin Luther King Jr but given his reputation as a champion for human equality I beg to differ.
As you go about your day remembering this brave man please keep this quote (and the one in the picture above)in mind:
“Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
Buster Weighs In
Hey Everyone!
It's me, Buster, and I aPAWlogize for not updating you on how I've been feeling ever since my pink medication ran out on Christmas day but, in my defense, my mom hasn't had time to help me type because she's had a lot of pets to take care of besides me since she is a professional pet sitter and all!
Anyway, can you tell from the picture that I have my appetite back? I don't have the sniffles or a stomach ache! I'm so excited! Everything tastes good again and, let me tell you, my mom is happy about that!
I think I'm starting to get my pudgy belly back but I won't know for sure until I see the vet again! They say the camera makes people look like they gained 5 extra pounds but does that apply to cats?
Let me know! :)
